Hannah Calverley

Hey, I am Hannah!

Hey, I'm Hannah. I'm on the Graphic design & Illustration side of the course and love experimenting with how I can incorporate illustration into my design work. Whether creating my own textures, or including my own illustrations, I love to be hands on and create the most organic feel I can for every project.

It's in your blood

It's in your blood is a campaign I created to bring awareness to Type 1 Diabetes and the stigma that surrounds it. The reason behind this project is a personal one and came mid discussion when the topic 'don't get me started on' came up - a conversation starter on issues that aren't necessarily addressed. For me, this was the stigma that I have seen people with Type 1 Diabetes face in their daily routines due to my mum having the condition herself.

Listen Clean

Listen Clean is a project combining two things I am passionate about - music and sustainability. Then, I came up with an idea to create a hypothetical product from the brand loop earplugs. The project centred around the plastic waste that is left behind at music festivals being collected and turned into these sustainable and reusable earplugs. Additionally, to get the audience at these events involved, they can collect three bags of plastic themselves in return for an exclusive set of earplugs made from the plastic specific to the festival.

Notice

As a society, we spend so much of our lives in front of screens. Watching TikTok in our free time and working on laptops and computers, unwinding by watching TV. Because of this we have lost the ability to remain present– the state of living where lies all the fun of life. We don’t spend half as much time in nature as we used to, and we certainly aren’t aware of what’s around us anymore. Notice is a graphic novel about a man that realises he is trapped in the repetition of life and the distraction of screens and decides to break free. This book is intended to be found in waiting rooms, public transport, hairdressers etc. where most people sit and pass time on their phone.
